Siri was introduced on the iPhone 4S in 2011 and has since made it easier for users to complete actions with just their voice. Despite Apple’s brief documentation on what Siri can do, there are numerous hidden voice commands that can be used on an iPhone. With the release of iOS 17, users no longer need to say “Hey, Siri” to activate the digital assistant, simply saying “Siri” is enough. Siri can also read articles in Safari, find saved passwords, restart the iPhone, turn off alarms, locate family or friends using the Find My app, translate foreign words, and set reminders based on location.

One of the new features with iOS 17 is the ability of Siri to read articles in Safari by using voice commands. By saying “Siri, read this to me,” users can listen to any article or webpage that is compatible with the Reader View feature. Siri can also assist in quickly finding saved passwords by using voice commands to access the iCloud Keychain. Additionally, users can now restart their iPhone by simply telling Siri to do so, without the need for manual interaction.

In situations where users need to turn off an alarm, Siri can be used to silence the alarm remotely. This feature can be helpful when the iPhone is not readily accessible. Siri can also be used to find family or friends using the Find My app, allowing users to track the location of their loved ones. Furthermore, Siri’s translation feature can translate foreign words or sentences into different languages, making communication easier for users who speak multiple languages.

Another useful feature of Siri is the ability to set reminders based on location. By telling Siri to remind you of a task when you arrive at a specific location, users can ensure that they do not forget important tasks. Additionally, Siri can provide directions back to a parked car, making it easier for users to locate their vehicle in a crowded parking lot or garage. Overall, Siri has evolved over the years to become a valuable tool for hands-free interactions on the iPhone.
