The United Nations has warned of the consequences of further tensions between the United States and China, with the outbreak of a dispute over the “espionage balloon”, which Washington announced and Beijing regretted, stressing that it is a civilian balloon, not for espionage.
“We do not want to see such a situation, where tensions between Washington and Beijing will increase,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.
He explained that given the global leadership position of both countries, it is up to them to do everything in their power to settle the situation, stressing that the United Nations does not have any information of its own regarding the incident.
