Percy Hynes White will not be returning for the second season of Netflix’s hit series Wednesday. After being absent from the season 2 cast announcement, the actor confirmed the news on social media, expressing his love for the show and excitement to watch the upcoming season. White played the character Xavier Thorpe in season 1, who harbored a crush on Wednesday Addams, portrayed by Jenna Ortega. However, since the show’s debut, White has faced accusations of sexual assault and inappropriate behavior.

The accusations against White, including predatory behavior, sending inappropriate images to minors, and using a racial slur, led to the hashtag #cancelpercy spreading on social media. Although the posts relating to these allegations have been deleted, White addressed the claims on Instagram, denying them and stating that he had been a victim of misinformation online. He emphasized that the rumors were false and denied being portrayed as bigoted or negligent of people’s safety.

In addition to White’s absence from the season 2 cast announcement, Naomi J. Owaga, who played Yoko Tanaka, was also omitted. However, several other cast members, including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, will be promoted to series regulars for the upcoming season. New cast members such as Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor have also been revealed for season 2.

During its first season, Wednesday received critical acclaim, earning two Golden Globe nominations and multiple Emmy nominations. The show follows the character of Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family as she navigates her psychic powers at a boarding school. While White will not be returning for the new season, he and co-star Jenna Ortega have another project in the works. The pair will star together in the upcoming film Winter Spring Summer or Fall, which will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. Additionally, White has recently completed work on the film Whistle alongside Nick Frost and Dafne Keen.
