Richard Gere made a stunning appearance at the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival with his wife, Alejandra Silva, and his eldest son, Homer James Jigme Gere. The trio attended the premiere of Gere’s new film, Oh, Canada, where they were photographed on the red carpet. Gere and Homer both wore matching black tuxedos, while Silva rocked a black floor-length gown embroidered with pink flowers. The family also attended the film’s afterparty hosted by Veuve Clicquot. Directed by Paul Schrader and based on Russell Banks’ novel Foregone, Oh, Canada follows a dying writer who flees to Canada to avoid the draft for the Vietnam War.

Gere, who shares Homer with his second ex-wife Carey Lowell, has two younger sons with Silva- Alexander, 4, and another child born in 2020 whose name has not been announced. The couple secretly married in 2018 after three years of dating and Gere expressed his happiness and contentment with his life to HOLA! Magazine in April 2018. Gere stated that meeting Silva gave meaning to his life and helped him find the quiet and happy life he had always sought. Before marrying Silva, Gere had always prioritized his family over his work and was careful about not being away from his son Homer for long periods of time, often turning down projects that would keep him away from his family.

Homer, who largely stays out of the spotlight, was mentioned by Gere in a 2024 interview with Vanity Fair Spain. Gere acknowledged that his son does not fully understand his level of fame and finds it difficult to see his father on screen, even in extreme roles. Despite this, Homer has recently shown an interest in acting and has begun writing and directing his own short films. This newfound common passion has brought the father and son even closer together.

Gere has always emphasized the importance of family in his life, even when it comes to his film decisions. In a 2015 interview with the Hindustan Times, Gere discussed his commitment to keeping his family as his top priority. He mentioned discussing work commitments with his son Homer and not taking up projects that would keep him away for long periods of time. Gere’s dedication to his family and his willingness to adjust his career to prioritize them shows the depth of his commitment to fatherhood.

With a successful film career behind him, Gere now seems to be enjoying a quieter and more family-centered life. His marriage to Silva and the birth of their two sons have brought him a new sense of purpose and joy. While he continues to work in the industry, Gere’s focus remains on his family and providing a stable and loving home for his children. The bond between father and sons is evident in the way Gere talks about his children, and it is clear that family is at the center of his life. Through his dedication and love for his family, Gere has found a sense of fulfillment and happiness that goes beyond his successful career in Hollywood.
