An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale struck the Solomon Islands on Monday evening, according to German news agency DPA.
The US Geological Survey stated that the epicenter of the quake was located 73 km west of the city of Boala on Santa Isabel Island, the longest island in the Solomon Islands, and at a depth of 86 km below sea level.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or material losses.
