Theodore “Theo” Struyck, a retired UPS worker from California, recently won $1.76 billion in the state’s second-largest jackpot. He was named as the representative of a group that purchased the winning Powerball ticket in October. Struyck has kept a low profile since his win, staying with family members in San Diego. He paid off his $90,000 home in January and is now looking for a new million-dollar home near his family’s property.

Struyck has been seen house hunting and was spotted viewing a four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath house worth $1.5 million that offers privacy and tranquility. The property includes more than an acre of greenspace and a guest house with a private drive. Struyck, who enjoys boating and dirt biking, will have more time for his hobbies after his win. He has also been seen with a boat on his property and wearing casual attire, including an “Aloha” hat and camouflage shorts.

Despite his newfound wealth, Struyck is said to still drive his old truck and neighbors describe him as humble and unlikely to indulge in flashy cars or clothing. He attended elementary and high school in Los Angeles, but it is unclear if he pursued higher education. Struyck, who never married but reportedly has a long-term partner, has received support and congratulations from neighbors, who hope he will consider increasing security given the substantial amount of money he won.

Struyck’s win comes after Yanira Alvarez’s $1.08 billion jackpot win at a Los Angeles mini-market three months prior. These wins follow Edwin Castro’s $2.04 billion historic jackpot win in November 2022. Struyck’s life-changing win has allowed him to pay off his home and seek a new property near his family, offering him the opportunity to enjoy his hobbies and interests in a more relaxed environment. Despite his substantial wealth, Struyck remains grounded and focused on maintaining his privacy and security following his big win.
