Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who gained media attention for her involvement in the murder of her mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, expressed confusion over remarks made by Sunny Hostin on The View regarding her current love life. Hostin, during a recent episode of the morning show, discussed Blanchard’s rekindled relationship with Ken Urker and questioned the idea of falling in love with someone behind bars. Blanchard, who served time for her role in her mother’s death, expressed confusion over Hostin’s change in tone, as she had previously been supportive and kind towards her on the show.

Blanchard met Urker through a prison pen pal program while serving her sentence for her mother’s murder. After getting engaged in 2018, the couple called off their engagement the following year. Despite this, their relationship continued to develop, with Urker not being the only person to form a romantic connection with Blanchard during her time in prison. She also married Ryan Scott Anderson in 2022 while still incarcerated. Following her release from prison in December 2023, Blanchard appeared on The View to discuss her incarceration experience and offer advice to others in similar situations.

Four months after her release, Blanchard filed for divorce from Anderson and reconnected with Urker. The couple decided to give their relationship another chance and got matching tattoos to symbolize their love and commitment to each other. Blanchard confirmed that she and Urker were back together and expressed excitement for the future. Despite the challenges they may face, they believe that their history has laid the perfect foundation for a new beginning and are committed to making their relationship work.

Hostin expressed her confusion and lack of understanding towards prison love, questioning how someone can overlook the fact that Blanchard had been involved in her mother’s murder. She found it difficult to comprehend how one could write letters to and sleep next to someone who had committed such a serious crime. However, Blanchard remains optimistic about her current relationship with Urker and believes that their love for each other is undeniable. She is grateful for the support she has received and is looking forward to what the future holds for them as a couple.
