Former Vermont State Police trooper Todd Chisholm pleaded guilty to lewd and lascivious behavior after being accused of sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend’s daughter for several years. In a plea deal, he agreed to 30 days in prison and six years of probation. The victim, now 31, came forward in 2019, revealing that Chisholm had been grooming her since she was 9 years old, telling her she was beautiful and making sexual advances. The assaults continued in secret until the victim was around 20 when she reported it to the police.

Chisholm began his relationship with the victim’s mother in 1998 and continued the affair until 1999. He then allegedly started making sexual advances towards the victim in 2002, kissing her and telling her it had to be their secret. The assaults escalated in 2003 when he sexually assaulted her while his own daughter was asleep in the same room. The victim claimed Chisholm treated her as his lover when he was around and told her they would be together when she was older. It wasn’t until she was 20 that she realized his behavior was wrong and reported it to the police.

Detectives interviewed Chisholm’s wife, who had caught him spooning with his own daughter and confronted him about the sexual assault in 2018. He reportedly admitted to being a “piece of shit” and said he should not be alive. After further interviews with the victim’s mother and a pastor, officers issued a warrant for Chisholm’s arrest. He accepted a plea deal to the lesser charge of lewd and lascivious behavior, with a suspended sentence of four to five years in jail except for 30 days, and six years of probation. Chisholm’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 3.

Chisholm was a state trooper for 13 years until 2001 and currently lives in North Brookfield, Massachusetts. His attorney did not respond to requests for comment. The victim, identified as K.B., came forward in 2019 and recounted years of sexual assault by Chisholm. He had reportedly confessed his actions to a pastor before being arrested. Chisholm’s behavior towards the victim allegedly continued even while he was in a relationship with his wife. The victim finally realized the wrongdoing when she was around 20 and decided to report it to the police.

The victim’s mother discovered Chisholm with his own daughter in a compromising situation and demanded he leave their home. Chisholm had allegedly been telling the victim that they would be together when she was older and treated her as his lover when they were together. Chisholm’s wife confronted him about the sexual assault in 2018, leading to his eventual arrest. Despite the severity of the charges, Chisholm was offered a plea deal with a relatively lenient sentence of 30 days in prison and six years of probation. Chisholm’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 3, where he will face the consequences of his actions.
