Battlestate Games has responded to backlash over the release of a new $250 version of Escape From Tarkov by backtracking on certain promises and offering updates to owners of other editions. Initially, players who had purchased the $150 Edge of Darkness edition were not going to receive the new PvE game mode included in the Unheard Edition. However, after fan outrage, EoD owners will now have access to the PvE mode along with other perks and bonuses.

In a statement on the Tarkov sub-Reddit, game director Nikita Buyanov announced that EoD owners will start receiving access to the PvE mode in waves, along with faster insurance returns, increased trader limits, PMC karma, charisma skill level, access to a special stimulant craft, and an exclusive quest line. Additionally, EoD owners will receive unique in-game items such as a dog tag, armband, and clothing. However, there is some controversy surrounding an item that allows players to call in a BTR, with some players suggesting it should be restricted to the PvE mode only.

For players who have the Standard, Prepare to Escape, or Left Behind editions of Tarkov, they will receive an increased stash size and the ability to purchase the PvE game mode separately. Those who purchased the Unheard Edition at full price will receive a $50 coupon for future Escape From Tarkov purchases, as well as access to Escape From Tarkov Arena.

Furthermore, it was announced that the ping limit for playing PvE would be removed, as the advantage of a lower ping would be offset by only playing against AI enemies. This move is likely an attempt to level the playing field for all players, regardless of their internet connection speeds.

Overall, Battlestate Games’ decision to backtrack on certain promises and offer updates to owners of other editions seems to be an attempt to appease fans and address concerns raised following the release of the $250 Unheard Edition. With EoD owners now gaining access to the PvE mode and receiving additional benefits, the company may have succeeded in quelling some of the backlash received.
