Def Leppard’s classic album, Pyromania, turned 40 last year, prompting fans to celebrate the milestone. In response to the excitement, the band re-released the album in various collectible formats for eager listeners. Recently, the album has made its way back onto the charts, debuting on the Vinyl Albums chart in the U.S. at No. 16. This marks the first time Pyromania has appeared on the vinyl-only chart, despite its previous success and popularity.

Pyromania’s debut on the Vinyl Albums chart is the band’s fifth placement on the list, with their last appearance occurring in June 2023. The album is now tied as the band’s third-highest-ranking hit on the chart, matching another vinyl album released by Def Leppard from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hysteria remains their highest-charting album on the Vinyl Albums list, narrowly missing out on the No. 1 spot by one space, while Diamond Star Halos peaked at No. 4.

According to data from Luminate, Pyromania sold 5,720 copies in the U.S. in the past week, with a significant portion of those sales likely coming from vinyl formats. The album moved a total of 8,499 equivalent units across all forms of consumption, indicating a strong response to the special re-release of the record. In late April, Def Leppard released two black vinyl versions of Pyromania, which were popular among fans, along with CD versions that included additional mixes and special features for dedicated followers.

The resurgence of Pyromania on the music charts extends beyond the Vinyl Albums tally, as the album has also made appearances on other Billboard charts after a prolonged absence. The recent re-release and anniversary celebrations have undoubtedly played a role in sparking renewed interest in the classic album, leading to its successful return to various music rankings. Def Leppard’s continued presence on the charts reflects the enduring popularity of their music and the lasting impact of Pyromania on listeners.
