Joff Bush, the composer for the popular children’s show Bluey, was featured in his studio in Brisbane. The Queensland Music Awards were held, with James Blundell receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Country nominees Haley Marsten, Melody Moko, and Tori Forsyth performed a rendition of Blundell and James Reyne’s 1992 track “Way Out West.” Blundell, who has had a successful career spanning 34 years, described the award as an acknowledgment of his survival in the music industry. He emphasized the importance of longevity and being interesting to sustain a career.

The Queensland Music Awards recognized various artists for their achievements in different genres. Jem Cassar-Daley won Song of the Year for “King of Disappointment,” while Cub Sport took home Album of the Year for “Jesus at the Gay Bar.” In addition to Blundell receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, other winners included Busby Marou for Blues, Roots, Joff Bush for Children’s Music with his work on Bluey, and Tori Forsyth for Country. The awards also honored artists in categories such as Contemporary Classical, Electronic, Folk, Heavy, Hip Hop, Indigenous, Jazz, Music for Screen, Pop, Rock, Soul, Funk, RNB, and World music.

Among the winners were notable artists such as Tia Gostelow, Andrew Butt Trio, Sahara Beck, and Fisher & Kita Alexander. Brad Cox received the Highest Selling Album award for “Acres,” while Cub Sport and Jem Cassar-Daley were recognized for their success in the music industry. The People’s Choice Awards highlighted various venues and festivals, with The Fortitude Music Hall winning Metro Venue of the Year, Kings Beach Tavern winning Regional Venue of the Year, and Gympie Music Muster winning Festival of the Year. Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct was named Accessible Venue of the Year.
