In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Missouri state Rep. Justin Hicks, a Black Republican running for Congress in Missouri’s 3rd Congressional District, declared an end to what he described as Democrats’ historic “free pass” with minority voters. Hicks believes minority voters are beginning to wake up to the “false promises” fed to them by the Democratic Party and are increasingly shifting their support towards Republican values such as limited government, lower taxes, and the freedom to live one’s life. He anticipates a significant shift in support from minority groups towards Republicans come November.

Hicks, the only non-White Republican in the Missouri House, has faced harassment from Democrats in the chamber because of his race. He recalled a significant moment last year when he declared during a floor debate that he identifies as an American, despite pressure from a Democrat to name his ethnicity. Hicks emphasized the importance of not identifying individuals based on arbitrary lines such as skin color, but rather on their character. His military experience as an Army veteran, which shaped his political views, taught him about the importance of building America’s military and maintaining its world standing as a beacon of hope.

If elected, Hicks’s top priority would be to advocate for a balanced budget to alleviate inflationary pressures on Americans and prevent passing on extravagant debt to future generations, including his 1-year-old daughter, Liberty. He criticized selfish leaders in Congress who prioritize political theater over delivering results for Americans and jeopardize American freedoms. Hicks faces a crowded Republican primary field, including well-funded candidates Bob Onder and Kurt Schaefer, with the winner expected to be the favorite in the November general election. The primary is scheduled for August 6.

Hicks emphasized the need to protect American values and freedoms while addressing challenges such as inflation, extravagant debt, and aggression from China. He believes that Americans often fail to realize how blessed they are and the importance of supporting the military and pushing back against threats to national security. Through his military service and experience, Hicks gained a deep appreciation for the country and the values it represents, which drive him to fight against racialized politics and work towards a better future for all Americans.

As a Black Republican, Hicks represents a growing shift in support from minority voters towards the Republican Party, as they become disillusioned with what they perceive as false promises from Democrats. He believes that Republican values resonate with people from all backgrounds and will lead to a significant shift in support from minority groups in the upcoming elections. By advocating for a balanced budget, protecting American freedoms, and prioritizing national security, Hicks aims to represent the interests of all Americans and ensure a brighter future for the country.
