Taylor Swift released her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department”, with fans speculating about a love song inspired by her new boyfriend, Travis Kelce. While most of the album’s songs are about past loves, one track titled “The Alchemy” seems to reference her relationship with Kelce. In the song, Swift uses football references to shout out her boyfriend, who is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Additionally, she appears to mention their moment on the field after the Super Bowl LVIII, hinting at a connection to Kelce.

Surprise songs released hours later also seem to reference Kelce, with one track titled “So High School” comparing falling for the athlete to being 16 again. The song references a viral video of Kelce playing a game involving Swift, Ariana Grande, and Katy Perry. Swift continues to use teenage metaphors and football references throughout the song, hinting at their relationship. The couple began dating in the summer of 2023 after Kelce expressed interest in Swift via a friendship bracelet at her concert.

Kelce, who was unable to attend the Grammy Awards with Swift due to preparing for the Super Bowl, praised her upcoming album during a press event. Swift revealed that the album was a lifeline for her and helped her cope with the challenges of her busy touring schedule. A source revealed that Swift had already written a couple of songs inspired by her romance with Kelce, which she was keeping private. The insider described the tracks as very personal and reflective of their love story.

The album, “The Tortured Poets Department”, was initially speculated to be a breakup album for Swift’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, with whom she dated for six years. Alwyn referenced a group chat with a similar name to the album during an interview, suggesting a possible connection to the inspiration behind the album. Despite the speculation, the album features songs about various topics related to Swift’s life, including her relationship with Kelce. Fans eagerly awaited the release of the album to see how Swift would address her past and current relationships in the songs.
