Former President Trump is optimistic about his chances of winning New Jersey in the upcoming presidential election, despite the state’s solid Democratic voting history over the past three decades. In a radio interview, Trump expressed his belief that he can flip the state from blue to red and secure its electoral votes. He cited his love for the state and his determination to win it, promising to put in the necessary effort to achieve victory.

Trump’s confidence in winning New Jersey was evident as he announced plans for a rally in Wildwood, a Republican-heavy area in the typically Democratic state. While Trump held a rally in Wildwood in January 2020, he still lost the state to President Biden by a significant margin. However, Trump remains undeterred and intends to continue campaigning in the state, hoping to narrow the gap and ultimately secure victory in the upcoming election.

Despite Trump’s optimism, Democrats in New Jersey do not appear to be taking his predictions seriously. Democratic Rep. Mikie Sherrill of New Jersey dismissed the idea of Trump finding success in the state, stating that New Jersey will not be welcoming to him. The Biden campaign’s communication director also emphasized the campaign’s focus on winning electoral votes rather than being distracted by Trump’s efforts in New Jersey.

For Trump, the rally in Wildwood serves as a strategic location in close proximity to New York City, where he is currently embroiled in legal proceedings. This makes him the first former or current president to face a criminal trial while campaigning for office. The rally will take place in Cape May County, a Republican stronghold in New Jersey, giving Trump a strong base of support in his efforts to win over the state’s voters.

While Trump’s chances of winning New Jersey may seem slim given the state’s Democratic leanings, he remains determined to change its political landscape. Trump’s campaign team is actively working to close the fundraising gap with the Biden campaign and is strategizing ways to appeal to voters in states like New York and New Jersey. As the election draws near, the focus for both campaigns will be on securing the necessary electoral votes to win the presidency, with Trump aiming to secure New Jersey’s electoral votes in his bid for a second term in office.
