House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is investigating the circumstances surrounding two Jordanian nationals who breached a military base in Virginia after it was revealed that they were both illegal immigrants. The incident occurred on May 3 when the two nationals in a box truck were stopped at a gate and claimed they were making a delivery to the post office. They were later turned over to ICE after their arrest for trespassing. ICE officials confirmed that one of the nationals crossed into the U.S. illegally in April and the other was a foreign student who entered the U.S. in September 2022.

ICE officials have stated that they have no information to suggest that either Jordanian nationals were affiliated with any organization that would pose a threat to public safety or national security. Additionally, sources within the Department of Homeland Security revealed that neither man has a criminal record in the U.S. The FBI declined to comment on whether the suspects were on a terrorist watchlist. Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee have sent letters to DHS requesting more information about the incident.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has written to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas requesting information about the case history of the two Jordanian nationals, including their immigration histories, benefits applications, detention status, and entry into the U.S. The committee is authorized to conduct oversight of federal immigration policy and procedures under the Rules of the House of Representatives. Senator Lindsey Graham has also sent a similar letter to Mayorkas from the Senate Judiciary Committee. DHS has stated that they will respond to congressional correspondence through official channels.

The incident involving the two Jordanian nationals breaching a military base in Virginia has raised concerns among Republicans about vulnerabilities in the nation’s immigration system. Jordan believes that the Biden Administration’s border and immigration policies increase the likelihood that criminal aliens will successfully enter and remain in the U.S. Governor Glenn Youngkin and Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee are calling for more information about the incident. ICE officials have declined to reveal the names of the Jordanian nationals involved in the breach.

The House Judiciary Committee is seeking to get to the bottom of the circumstances surrounding the two Jordanian nationals who breached the military base in Virginia. Jordan’s investigation aims to uncover details about the individuals’ immigration histories, benefits applications, and detention status. The committee has requested this information from DHS by June 7. The incident has sparked concerns about criminal aliens exploiting vulnerabilities in the immigration system, prompting calls for increased oversight from Congress. DHS has stated that they will respond appropriately to congressional oversight.
