Tiger Woods’ 15-year-old son, Charlie, is following in his father’s footsteps by pursuing a career in golf. However, Woods revealed during an interview on “Today” that his daughter, Sam, has no interest in the sport and has a negative association with it. He explained that golf took him away from Sam when she was younger, as he had to travel frequently for tournaments, leading her to develop a negative connotation to the game. Despite this, Sam recently caddied for her father and brother at the PNC Championship, showing support for her family.

Although Woods and his son have a strong bond through golf, he emphasized that he and Sam have built their relationship outside of the sport. Woods mentioned that they engage in activities that do not involve golf, allowing them to connect in a different way. He acknowledged that the dynamic between him and his children differs, with Charlie showing a keen interest in golf, while Sam has no desire to pursue the game. Woods and Charlie competed together at the PNC Championship, marking their fourth year participating in the event.

While Charlie may have access to the best coaching due to his father’s expertise, Woods admitted that his son does not always follow his advice. He noted that Charlie, like many teenagers, is in the process of discovering his own path and establishing his identity. Despite facing challenges in a recent U.S. Open local qualifying event, where Charlie failed to advance after shooting a 9-over 81, Woods remains supportive of his son’s journey in golf. He emphasized the importance of allowing Charlie to make his own choices and learn from his experiences on the course.

Woods’ ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, briefly reunited with him to support their son, Charlie, at a ceremony. This rare appearance together highlights their commitment to co-parenting and supporting their children. Woods expressed gratitude for the quality time he has spent with his daughter Sam, engaging in activities that strengthen their bond beyond the realm of golf. Reflecting on the different relationships he shares with his children, Woods emphasized the unique connection he has with each of them, tailored to their individual interests and pursuits.

Despite the challenges that come with balancing a successful golf career and family life, Woods remains dedicated to supporting his children in their endeavors. He values the time spent with Sam, even if it does not involve golf, and acknowledges her lack of interest in the sport. While Charlie shows promise in pursuing a career in golf, Woods respects his son’s autonomy in making decisions and following his own path in the sport. By nurturing individual connections with each of his children, Woods exemplifies a commitment to fostering their personal growth and interests regardless of their involvement in golf.
