Taylor Swift and Florence Welch have been friends for over a decade, with Welch crediting Swift for helping her be brave enough to release her vulnerable album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful in 2015. Swift described Welch as magnetic and electric, praising her ability to disarm people with warm compliments. The pair have collaborated on various projects, with Welch working with many of Swift’s collaborators such as Calvin Harris and Rihanna. Welch also worked with Swift’s longtime producer Jack Antonoff on several projects.

In May 2015, Swift and Welch were described as having in-depth conversations about love and heartbreak, with Welch reaching out to Swift for advice after her relationship ended. The two were part of a group of A-listers who gathered at Swift’s New York City apartment for impromptu pizza parties and heart-to-heart conversations. Welch mentioned that she found Swift to be helpful when seeking advice on relationships and love.

In October 2015, Welch expressed her interest in attending Swift’s 1989 tour and possibly making a guest appearance. She praised the song “Shake It Off” as her favorite because it made her happy. In February 2016, both women were nominated at the Grammys for Pop Vocal Album, with Swift’s 1989 ultimately winning. Welch clarified that Swift did not inspire her to write her album but provided her with the confidence to release such a personal and vulnerable record.

In May 2016, Welch attended the Met Gala, co-chaired by Swift, and was seen signing the cast on Lorde’s broken arm as Swift looked on. In January 2023, the friends were spotted at The 1975’s London concert where Swift performed “Anti-Hero.” The moment was captured in a photo posted by Loose Women host Denise Welch. In April 2024, Swift will release The Tortured Poets Department, featuring a collaboration with Florence + the Machine on a track titled “Florida!!!.”

Swift and Welch’s friendship and collaborations have spanned over several years, with Welch praising Swift’s ability to provide guidance and support during challenging times. The pair have attended events together, supported each other’s projects, and collaborated on music projects. Their friendship is based on mutual respect, admiration, and a shared love for music and creativity. As they continue to work together and support each other in their respective careers, their bond only grows stronger and more meaningful.
