Season 10 of Overwatch 2 has started, bringing a major change to how players earn Mythic skins. Players can now earn Mythic Prisms and use them to unlock Mythic skins of their choice, rather than having to complete the Premium Battle Pass. This change gives players more agency over which skins they unlock, allowing them to go back and unlock or upgrade previous season’s Mythics. This new system is also beneficial for newer players who may have missed out on older Mythics.

However, the addition of Prisms means that Overwatch 2 now has six currencies for players to manage. These include Overwatch Credits, Overwatch Coins, Overwatch League Tokens, Legacy Competitive Points, CP, and Mythic Shards. Players earn these currencies through various means, such as completing the Premium Battle Pass, competitive modes, or purchasing them with real money. The addition of Prisms adds complexity to the in-game economy, making it harder for players to keep track of what they’re spending.

Players also have to contend with events that introduce new currencies, such as Winter Fair Tickets during the Winter Wonderland event. These currencies can be used to purchase cosmetic rewards or special bundles that grant access to PvE Story Missions. Some items can only be purchased with real money, further complicating the currency system in Overwatch 2. Players have little say in how one currency can be converted into another, leading to potential confusion and accidental spending.

Managing multiple currencies can make it difficult for players to understand the in-game economy and track their spending. The complexity of the currency system in Overwatch 2 can be overwhelming, even for experienced players. Other games, such as Destiny 2 and Fortnite, also have multiple currencies, but the sheer number of currencies in Overwatch 2 can be particularly confusing. Blizzard may need to simplify the currency system in the game to make it more player-friendly.

Overall, the addition of Mythic Prisms in Overwatch 2 Season 10 provides players with more flexibility in unlocking Mythic skins. However, the presence of multiple currencies can make it challenging for players to navigate the in-game economy. Players may need to be more mindful of their spending and make sure they are using the correct currency for their purchases. Blizzard may need to consider streamlining the currency system in Overwatch 2 to improve player experience and reduce confusion.
