Taylor Swift made a big announcement on Thursday, revealing that the first single from her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” will be called “Fortnight” and will feature Post Malone. The music video for the single is set to premiere on Friday night, marking an early reveal from the highly anticipated album. Swift shared the news on social media, expressing her admiration for Post Malone’s songwriting abilities and catchy melodies.

Fans had been eagerly awaiting the premiere of a music video on Friday night, though the exact song was not confirmed until Swift’s announcement. Post Malone’s collaboration with Swift on “Fortnight” marks his second major collaboration of the year, having recently appeared on Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” album in the song “Levii’s Jeans.” Despite the excitement surrounding the release, Post Malone had not posted anything about the song or video by early Thursday afternoon.

In addition to Post Malone, Swift has also collaborated with Florence + The Machine on a song called “Florida!!!” for her new album. “The Tortured Poets Department” will be released at 12 a.m. EDT on Friday and boasts 16 songs with four bonus tracks, each available across four variations of the album on vinyl. The album also features production work from Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner, who have previously worked with Swift on her recent projects.

Swift has been a dominant force in pop culture in recent years, with her most recent album, “Midnights,” selling millions of units and her Eras world tour grossing over $1 billion. She announced the new album at the Grammys in February after winning Best Pop Vocal Album for “Midnights.” Swift’s success has also translated into financial gains, with Forbes estimating her net worth to be $1.1 billion as of Thursday, following her billionaire status achievement in October.

One key thing to watch for with the release of “The Tortured Poets Department” is whether Swift breaks her own streaming records. She already holds the record for the biggest first-week debut for an album this decade, with “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” debuting atop the charts in October with 1.653 million units. Prior to that, she held the record for “folklore” and then surpassed it with “Midnights.” Swift’s consistent success in the music industry has solidified her as a powerhouse artist and entrepreneur, with her influence extending beyond just music.
