Taylor Swift has once again achieved a chart double in the U.K., where she sits at the No. 1 spot on both the albums and singles chart simultaneously. This impressive feat, known as a chart double, is rare in the music industry, but it’s not the first time Swift has managed to do so. The singer-songwriter’s latest release, The Tortured Poets Department, along with its lead single “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, have both debuted at the top of their respective charts in the U.K. This marks the third time that Swift has earned a chart double in the country, showcasing her continued success and popularity in the music world.

The Official Charts Company, the U.K.’s equivalent of Billboard, reports that Swift has previously achieved a chart double in 2022 with her album Midnights and its lead single “Anti-Hero,” as well as in the past year with her re-recording 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and its track “Is It Over Now? (From the Vault) (Taylor’s Version).” This consistent display of chart-topping success demonstrates Swift’s ability to capture the attention of audiences and maintain high levels of interest in her music. Despite chart doubles being a relatively new phenomenon for Swift, she has managed to achieve this impressive feat multiple times over the past few years.

With “Fortnight” debuting at No. 1 on the singles chart, two other tracks from The Tortured Poets Department – the title track and “Down Bad” – have also entered the top five on the U.K. songs chart. The success of these songs further solidifies Swift’s dominance in the U.K. music scene, as well as her ability to connect with listeners on a global scale. The Official Charts Company’s rule limiting each musician to three spots on the chart as a lead act has likely prevented more tracks from the album from making it onto the roster, a testament to the widespread popularity of Swift’s music.

The Tortured Poets Department marks Swift’s twelfth No. 1 album in the U.K., with an impressive 270,000 equivalent units sold in its first week. This massive achievement speaks to Swift’s enduring appeal and loyal fan base, as well as her ability to consistently deliver chart-topping music that resonates with audiences worldwide. “Fortnight” also marks Swift’s fourth No. 1 single in the U.K. and Malone’s second, underscoring the collaborative success of the two artists on this track. As Swift continues to break records and achieve chart doubles, it’s clear that she remains a powerhouse in the music industry, with no signs of slowing down.
