Despite past statements and rising concerns about China’s aggressive presence in the U.S., Huang has engaged with officials at universities and Democrat lawmakers in Pennsylvania. He has denied allegations of genocide against the Uyghurs and has promoted CCP talking points on X while meeting with prominent U.S. officials.
In response to the meeting, a spokesperson for Mayor Parker’s office stated that the meeting with Huang was about greeting representatives of Tianjin, Philadelphia’s Sister City, and celebrating the relationship between the U.S. and China. Huang’s visits with top officials, including Sen. Chuck Schumer, Gov. Kathy Hochul, and Mayor Eric Adams, have raised concerns about China’s influence in the U.S. in various sectors such as academia, government, healthcare, and social media.
