Syria has issued a new warning to both Israel and the United States amid rising tensions in the Middle East. The country strongly condemned an Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, accusing Israel of being the cause of regional instability due to its actions in Gaza and abroad. Syria also called out the U.S. for supporting Israel and justifying its actions, including targeting defenseless people and humanitarian organizations.

The attack on the Iranian consular building marked the most high-profile strike in Israel’s semi-covert campaign against Iran and its allies in Syria. Iran has vowed to retaliate, putting the region on edge. Israel has warned against any direct attacks, and the U.S. has engaged in diplomatic communications to caution Tehran against further escalation. The U.S. has emphasized that escalation in the conflict will harm not only Israel and Iran but also every country in the world.

Syria finds itself on the frontlines of tensions between Iran and Israel, with an ongoing civil war further complicating the situation. While Syria has long been Iran’s closest ally in the Arab world, Iran has significantly increased its presence in the country since the start of the Syrian civil war in 2011. The U.S. and its allies initially supported opposition forces but later shifted focus to combating ISIS. Russia intervened militarily to aid the Syrian government, and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces also played a role in the conflict.

Syria has welcomed Iran’s top diplomat for consultations following the attack on the consular building. With ties to both Iran and regional players like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Syria has urged the international community to pressure Israel to stop its violations of international law and humanitarian principles. Iran and its allies have established a network in Syria that Israel views as a national security threat. The conflict between Israel and Hamas has mobilized Axis of Resistance units in various countries, adding to the complexity of the situation in the region.

While the U.S. has called on other countries to urge Iran not to carry out a military response against Israel, Syria has called for more pressure on Israel amid criticism of its actions in Gaza. Syria remains committed to combating terrorism and supporting efforts to guarantee freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity for those fighting terrorism in the region. The situation in the Middle East remains tense, with multiple actors and interests at play, making it a challenging environment for diplomacy and conflict resolution.
