With the upcoming release of The Final Shape in Destiny 2, changes to the economy/farming system are creating a buzz among players. Bungie is keeping the artifact power system in place, so stacking bounties ahead of the launch will still be necessary. However, bounties will now offer an XP boost to help players level up.
One major change is the introduction of a new system for obtaining exotic armor. Players can now rank up Rahool through focusing or decrypting engrams, with exotic engram focusing giving the most XP. The goal is to max him out in order to start focusing on getting the new Final Shape/Echoes exotics, which are expected to include at least six new pieces of gear.
To prepare for the release, players will need a full inventory of exotic engrams, among other requirements. Exotic engrams can now be obtained from various sources, including milestone completions, the season pass, vendor resets, high-level content like Nightfalls, and legend/master Lost Sectors in The Final Shape.
Another essential item to stock up on are Ascendant Shards, which are used in focusing exotics and are recommended by Bungie. These can be obtained from vendor resets, Nightfalls, Onslaught chest, Trials chests, Master dungeons, high-tier Coil/seasonal activity runs, and from Rahool in exchange for Prisms and Glimmer.
Players will also need Exotic Ciphers to focus on new gear. The cap for these has been increased to 5, but sources for obtaining them are limited. Currently, players can get one per week from Xur through an activity-based bounty and one in the seasonal battle pass. However, if there are more exotics than the cap allows, players will not be able to fully stock up on Exotic Ciphers.
These changes may seem daunting to some players, but they are designed to help players acquire new exotics more efficiently than traditional methods like Lost Sector RNG farming. By preparing ahead of The Final Shape’s release, players can ensure they have the necessary resources to focus on the new gear and level up Rahool to unlock the latest exotics.
