An internet-famous pet alligator named Wally went missing in Georgia, believed to have been stolen from a fenced-in yard. His owner, Joie Henney, shared a tearful plea on social media for help in finding his beloved emotional support animal. Wally, who was adopted in 2015, had been a source of comfort to Henney during times of depression. The 8-year-old reptile is known for his gentle nature and ability to sense people’s emotions.

Henney’s doctor had endorsed Wally as an emotional support animal, and the alligator had become quite popular on social media, with videos and photos showing people hugging, cuddling, and even kissing him on his snout. Wally often accompanied Henney to events such as meet-and-greets and children’s birthday parties for photo ops. His disappearance has left Henney distraught, believing that the people who stole him may have used him as part of a prank on unsuspecting homeowners.

Authorities were alerted to a sighting of a “nuisance alligator” in the Brunswick area on the day Wally disappeared, and a licensed trapper was called in to catch the animal and release it into the wild. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources confirmed the incident but could not confirm if the captured alligator was Wally. It is illegal to keep alligators as pets in Georgia, but Pennsylvania, where Wally and Henney live, does not have such laws.

Henney described Wally as a unique alligator, unlike any other, and emphasized the special bond they share. The owner is hopeful that the community will come together to help locate his missing pet and bring him home safely. Messages of support have poured in on social media, with many expressing concern for Wally’s well-being and offering assistance in the search efforts. Henney remains determined to find Wally and is urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
