Nicholas Alexander Chavez, who played Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital, has confirmed his exit from the show on May 3. He expressed gratitude towards the producers, writers, directors, fellow actors, and fans, including the loyal Sprina fans. While there are no current plans for his return, Chavez mentioned ongoing discussions about potential future opportunities for his character, Spencer Cassadine, in Port Charles.

Chavez initially left General Hospital earlier in the year to star as Lyle Menéndez in Ryan Murphy’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. His departure was initially considered a leave of absence, but it now seems to be a permanent move. ABC has not yet commented on the situation, but fans noticed Chavez’s name had been removed from the opening credits in late March. The character’s fate remains unknown as his final episode aired on January 31 in a major cliffhanger, leaving the possibility open for another actor to take on the role.

During his time on General Hospital, Chavez expressed appreciation for the show, saying it allowed him to grow as an actor and earn an income doing what he loves every day. His departure adds to a series of cast shake-ups on the show, which began in November 2023 with Roger Howarth’s exit as Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt. Eden McCoy also took a step back from her role as Josslyn Jacks following a personal tragedy, while Kirsten Storms and Kelly Monaco took brief breaks before the end of 2023.

Despite the departures of several cast members, fans were surprised by the return of Steve Burton as Jason Morgan in a March 4 episode. Burton shared his excitement about returning to the show and working with the head writers on new storylines. He encouraged viewers to tune in and watch as the pieces of the puzzle come together for his character’s return, promising an awesome storyline for fans to enjoy. Stay tuned for more developments on General Hospital as the show continues to evolve with new cast changes and storylines.
