Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba were tasked with the role of organising the celebrity couple’s April 2022 Palm Beach wedding, but it seems things didn’t go quite according to plan.
A lawsuit filed against the couple, whose company name is Plan Design Events (PDE), claims their plans were not up to scratch.
PDE was not the first company hired for the big event, however.
The first choice, Preston Bailey, stepped down a mere six weeks before the wedding.
That’s when Braghin and Grijalba stepped in.
But a series of terse text messages, allegedly sent by Nicola to the planners, showed she wasn’t happy with Wedding Planners #2 either.
In his legal filing, Nelson Pelz, 80, described his daughter as a “world-famous actress who has starred in blockbuster movies and television shows,” The Daily Mail reports.
He went on to cite her roles in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Bates Motel and The Last Airbender.
“The guest list included more than 500 people, including numerous celebrities, athletes, dignitaries and other influential individuals, who travelled from all around the globe to attend,” the lawsuit stated.
“The celebrity of the wedding couple, combined with the anticipated attendance of many high-profile guests, required that the wedding planner have the expertise and staffing to plan, coordinate and execute a wedding event of the expected calibre and complexity.”
The lawsuit contained screenshots of text messages Nicola Peltz allegedly sent to PDE, one of which states she was “tired of catching mistakes” on the RSVP list.
In one of the texts, Nicola demands to know why F1 driver Lewis Hamilton was still on the guest list when he hadn’t RSVPed.
“Lewis Hamilton did NOT RSVP. So explain why his names (sic) on the list please,” Nicola allegedly wrote.
“We spoke to him. He can’t come. So explain why you said he rsvpd yes,” she added.
“I need time to do this,” Grijalba allegedly responded.
“I’m going to take a moment to learn the app and send you the information, I hate looking like a fool but I hate the most not giving you what you need ASAP. I will be back soon.
“That’s not true. He didn’t rsvp AT ALL,” Nicola allegedly replied.
Peltz’s attorneys said in the lawsuit: “Peltz had presented them with the opportunity of a lifetime – to have their names associated with the wedding of two world-famous celebrities, which would undoubtedly propel PDE into wedding planning stardom.
“In reality, however, it later became clear that PDE viewed this as an opportunity to take advantage of Peltz by making material misrepresentations on both their website and in person regarding their experience, expertise and capability of planning the wedding.”
Nelson Peltz advised the PDE pair on March 4, 2022, that they had lost the gig, which finally went to Michelle Ragos, who charged the family a higher fee because of the quick turnaround needed.
Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba later emailed Nelson and his wife Claudia, pleading with them not to spread “negative gossip” about their company.
“In order to avoid negative gossip, we would appreciate that in the case you are asked to comment on our departure, that your answer reflects the work and good attitude we put into the process, and no professional reason for our detachment,” the email read.
“We will say: we are under NDA and cannot comment. This keeps us both in a very good place.
“We really wish you and the family a fantastic event.
“We are sure as you even said that our paths will cross in the future as I truly feel we had a great connection with you and Claudia.”
Peltz’s lawsuit claims he asked PDE on numerous occasions to return the deposit they had paid,to no avail.
The star-studded wedding eventually went ahead without a hitch, with celebrity guests including Serena and Venus Williams, Eva Longoria, Gigi Hadid and Sporty Spice Melanie Chisholm in attendance.
