Air fryers are the must-have kitchen gadget


Air fryers are the must-have kitchen gadget. But they’re not just trendy, they’re also practical and with a few easy tricks you can turn naughty treats into healthy home-cooked dishes.

To help you fry up a storm, nutritionist Sarah Di Lorenzo shared some delicious recipes you can make without using oil or extra fats.

3 capsicums

1 tablespoon olive oil

350 grams of ground turkey

1/2 cup of cooked brown rice

1/2 cup of crushed of corn flakes

3/4 cup of marinara sauce

1/4 cup of chopped flat leaf parsley


1/2 cup of grates parmesan cheese

1/4 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese


Coat the bast of an air fryer with cooking spray. Cut tops off, seed the capsicums and set aside.

Heat the oil in a fry pan, add the turkey and cook through. Add the rice and corn flakes, cook until warm. Stir in the marinara, parsley pepper and parmesan then add the mix to the capsicums.

Play into the air fryer basket, add the tope and cook at 180 degrees for 8 minutes then top with the mozzarella and cook for about 2 minutes more.



2 ripe bananas

1 cup of oat flour

1/2 teaspoon of baking powder

1/3 cup of maple syrup

1 teaspoon of cinnamon

1 egg

1/4 cup of olive oil

1/4 cup of butter milk


Extra maple to brush over the top and serve


Fork mash the bananas in a small bowl and set aside.

Whisk the flour and maple syrup in a bowl and then make a well in the centre and add the oil, egg, buttermilk and then stir until combined. Next, add the banana and berries.

Preheat the air fryer to 180 degrees and then add the mix to a muffin tray and into the rack on the fryer cooking for 8 – 10 minutes or until cooked through.

Brush the tops of the muffins with maple syrup and then serve.



2 chicken breasts cut into 1-inch cubes

2 eggs

1 teaspoon of smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

90 grams of crushed corn flakes

Cooking spray


Preheat the air fryer for 200 degrees for 10 minutes. Mix the eggs, garlic, onion, pepper and salt. Place the cornflakes in a shallow dish. Dip each chicken cube into the egg, then the cornflakes, pressing lightly to adhere the coating.

Next place the chicken nuggets into the air fryer basket in a single layer, this may require a few batches. Spray the nuggets with cooking spray and put into the air fryer for 12 minutes or until they are crispy.

Remove and enjoy with your favourite sauce.



250 grams salmon filet


1 tablespoon of honey

1 tablespoon of miso paste

2 teaspoons mirin

2 teaspoons of sesame oil

1 teaspoon of fresh grated ginger

1teaspoon of tamari

1 clove of minced garlic

1 tsp of water



Pat the salmon dry with a paper towel. Add the glaze ingredients to a bowl and marinate the salmon in the glaze for 30 minutes.

Line the base of the air fryer with baking paper, be sure to only line the base of the basket and not the sides.

Transfer the salmon to the air fryer best skin down, brush with the glaze. If there is too much glaze then you can heat it up in a saucepan and keep until the end to drizzle.

Air fry for 11 minutes at 200 degrees c.

Serve with brown rice and greens.
