The pharmaceutical company Bausch + Lomb has issued a recall of 32,000 units of Project Watson Eyelid Wipes for dogs due to reports of bacteria growing inside the container. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has warned that the bacteria and fungi could pose a risk of serious infection to individuals with weakened immune systems or wounds. The company received reports from seven consumers who noticed a substance developing in the container after the product had been opened and in use. Although no illnesses have been reported in consumers or pets, the company is advising customers to request a refund for their purchases of the recalled product.

The recalled product can be identified by the lot numbers A09050 and A10055 printed on the bottom of its circular container. Priced between $13 to $15, the eyelid wipes were sold at nationwide retailers such as PetSmart, Walmart, Chewy.com, and Amazon.com from February 2023 through March 2024. Consumers who have purchased the product are advised to stop using it immediately and request a refund through the website eyelidwiperecall.com. To obtain a refund, consumers need to submit a photo of the product with a signature and the date written on the container. Bausch + Lomb will issue a full refund via U.S. mail in the form of a check.

The recall notice from Bausch + Lomb was issued following reports of bacteria growing inside the container of Project Watson Eyelid Wipes for dogs. The same week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled 29 different Palmer Candy Company products over fears of contamination with salmonella, the most common cause of food poisoning in the United States. Palmer Candy was alerted by its supplier about the risk of salmonella in the liquid coating used on its white-coated items. These products were sold in 17 states at stores like Walmart, HyVee, Target, and Dollar General. Additionally, nearly a dozen cheese products produced by HyVee and Schnucks were recalled over salmonella concerns in nine states.

It is important for dog owners who have purchased Project Watson Eyelid Wipes to check the lot numbers and request a refund if they have the recalled product. The presence of bacteria and fungi in the container could pose a health risk, especially to individuals with weakened immune systems. By stopping the use of the wipes and requesting a refund through the provided website, consumers can ensure their safety and prevent any potential infections. This recall serves as a reminder of the importance of product quality and safety measures to protect consumers and their pets. The company is taking action to address the issue and prevent further risks associated with the contaminated product.
