Alberta Health Services has issued a boil water advisory for residents in Rocky View County due to an issue with the Salt Box Coulee Waterworks System. This advisory affects those who rely on the Salt Box Coulee Waterworks, Calling Horse Estates Waterworks, Windmill Water Coop Waterworks, and Deer Springs. Residents and businesses supplied by these systems are advised to boil water for at least one minute before consuming it. This includes drinking, brushing teeth, cleaning raw foods, preparing infant formula, juices, and ice. Water used for bathing or washing clothes does not need to be boiled. AHS recommends washing hands with soap and water or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Residents in the affected area have the option of purchasing bottled water for consumption during the advisory. AHS stated that corrective action is being taken to address the issue and restore the appropriate water supply. The advisory will remain in place until the water is restored and the quality is assured. AHS Environmental Public Health officers will continue to monitor the situation, including sampling and testing the drinking water to ensure it is safe for consumption. The advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
