Miss Teen USA announced her resignation only two days after Miss USA also announced she was stepping down. UmaSofia Srivastava, 17, cited a misalignment of personal values with the organization as the reason for her decision. She expressed gratitude for the support she received during her time as Miss NJ Teen USA and mentioned her fulfillment in representing her state as a first-generation Mexican-Indian American. Srivastava plans to continue advocating for education and acceptance, as well as working on her children’s book “The White Jaguar,” which has received positive feedback.

Srivastava emphasized that her true purpose lies in her advocacy work and expressed excitement about finishing her junior year in high school and applying to colleges. She thanked those who have supported her for who she is and not just during her tenure as a beauty queen. On the other hand, Miss USA, Noelia Voigt, also announced her resignation to prioritize her mental health. Voigt, who won the Miss USA crown in September, mentioned that stepping down is the beginning of a new chapter for her and encouraged others to prioritize their mental health and advocate for themselves.

The Miss USA Pageant released a statement acknowledging and accepting Voigt’s decision to resign. They emphasized that the well-being of their titleholders is a top priority and indicated their support for Voigt’s need to prioritize herself at this time. Srivastava, in her resignation announcement, mentioned that the response she received from her book “The White Jaguar” has been instrumental in leaving a lasting legacy. The book is a story about a jaguar separated from its parents during a fire, embarking on a journey of self-love while realizing its differences from other jaguars.

Srivastava expressed her excitement about continuing her advocacy work and focusing on her personal growth and academic pursuits. She recognized the importance of support from her family, state directors, and fans throughout her journey as a beauty queen. Both Srivastava and Voigt’s decisions to step down reflect a growing trend of public figures prioritizing their mental health and well-being. The Miss Teen USA and Miss USA Pageants have shown support for their former titleholders’ decisions and emphasized the importance of prioritizing self-care and overall well-being.
