Mexican authorities have reported that two Australians and an American were killed during a surfing trip in Baja California due to thieves wanting the tires from their truck. State prosecutors have not officially confirmed the identities of the missing men, but family members are viewing the bodies to try to identify them. The corpses were found decomposing in a remote well, and a fourth body was also discovered in the well that had been there longer. Chief state prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez stated that the corpses may belong to the missing men, as they are still identifiable by sight.

The three men, brothers Jake and Callum Robinson from Australia and American Jack Carter Rhoad, were on a camping and surfing trip when they went missing last weekend. It is theorized that the killers saw the foreigners’ pickup truck and tents, desired their tires, and shot the tourists when they resisted. The bodies were dumped into a difficult-to-reach well by the thieves. The same suspects may have dumped the first body in the well as well. The thieves covered the well with boards, making it almost impossible to find. The bodies were eventually winched out of the well by investigators.

The bodies were discovered near the township of Santo Tomás, close to where the men’s belongings were found last week. Mourners and protestors gathered in Ensenada to express their sadness and anger at the deaths. Baja California prosecutors were questioning three individuals in connection to the case, two of whom were arrested for drug charges. A third man, Jesús Gerardo, was believed to have directly participated in the killings and had a criminal record. It is possible that more individuals were involved in the crime.

The thieves involved seemed to have targeted trucks in the area, and the killings were a result of a robbery gone wrong. The killings have sparked outrage in the community, with protestors calling for safe beaches and justice for the victims. The murders have drawn attention to the dangers faced by tourists in certain areas, and the need for greater security measures to protect visitors. Authorities are continuing to investigate the case and determine if more individuals were involved in the crime.

The violent deaths of the three foreign tourists highlight the risks faced by travelers in certain regions of Mexico, particularly in areas where drug-related crimes are prevalent. The tragedy has also brought attention to the issue of drug trafficking in the region, with two individuals being held on drug charges in connection to the case. The killings have had a profound impact on the local community and have raised concerns about safety in remote areas. Authorities are working to bring those responsible for the murders to justice and ensure the safety of visitors in the region.
