LG has made a groundbreaking announcement by becoming the first brand to offer support for Apple’s Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos format on its TVs. This feature is being rolled out via firmware update to all LG TVs running the webOS 4.0 smart platform or higher, including OLED models released as far back as 2018, as well as QNED LCD TV models from the Q90T series and above. Even LG’s recently released lifestyle screens, like StanbyME, StanbyME Go, and MyView Smart Monitor, will support this feature.

The update bringing Apple Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos support to LG TVs is scheduled to roll out this week, so users may already have access to it on their compatible LG TVs. This feature aims to enhance the listening experience by creating a multi-dimensional effect that increases clarity and depth, making users feel like they are at the center of the sound space. Additionally, the Spatial Audio component introduces effects that mimic the real-world positioning of sound relative to the TV, adding to the immersive nature of the experience.

Apple Music subscribers will now be able to enjoy Dolby Atmos tracks on their LG TVs using the built-in speaker systems, thanks to the new spatial audio support. Even if the TV does not support Dolby Atmos playback, users can still enjoy the feature by pairing their TV with a compatible Dolby Atmos soundbar or connecting Apple devices directly using Bluetooth. This integration of Apple’s Dolby Atmos technology with LG TVs and soundbars promises a more immersive audio experience for users.

LG is offering a special promotion to celebrate this partnership with Apple Music, providing three months of free Apple Music subscription to LG Smart TV users worldwide who access the offer through the Apple Music app on compatible LG Smart TVs. This collaboration between LG and Apple Music highlights the popularity and reach of LG’s webOS smart platform, and it remains to be seen how long this exclusive support for Apple Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos will be available on LG TVs. The addition of a loudness normalization algorithm ensures a seamless transition between regular audio and Dolby Atmos tracks, preventing sudden volume spikes.

LG’s pioneering move to offer support for Apple Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos on its TVs marks a significant milestone in the world of home entertainment technology. By making this feature available on a wide range of LG TVs, including older models, the brand is ensuring that a large number of users can benefit from the immersive audio experience. Whether using the built-in speakers on their LG TV or pairing it with a compatible soundbar, users can now enjoy Apple’s Dolby Atmos tracks with enhanced clarity and depth. This collaboration between LG and Apple Music underscores the ongoing advancements in audio technology and the growing demand for a more immersive entertainment experience at home.
