Mason, a Seattle-based startup that provides a hardware-software platform for managing device fleets, recently appointed Webb Stevens as its new CEO and John Thimsen as its new CTO. Stevens, formerly the COO at Docker, brings a wealth of experience from executive roles at Carta, Qualtrics, and Avalara. Thimsen, the former CTO of Qualtrics and an Amazon Echo team member, adds valuable expertise to the team. Mason serves customers in various industries, with a focus on data collection use cases such as clinical trials and remote patient monitoring.

Nancy Xiao, the previous CEO of Mason, will transition to the role of president as part of these leadership changes. Xiao took over as CEO in 2021 from her brother, Jim Xiao, who founded the company in 2016 and now serves as a partner. With a $25 million Series A funding round in 2019, Mason aims to capitalize on the significant demand for its products in the healthcare sector. Xiao highlighted the wealth of experience and leadership skills that Stevens and Thimsen bring to the company, emphasizing their ability to scale transformational enterprises to new heights.

In addition to Mason’s leadership changes, several key personnel changes have occurred across the Pacific Northwest in various industries. Former Zappos leader Christopher Peake joined Beyond, the Utah-based company that acquired Zulily’s brand, as the director of merchandising. Seattle tech veteran Brooke Shepard launched a B2B services business aimed at working directly with founders and senior leaders after holding executive positions at Salesforce, Tableau, and Weber Shandwick.

Continuous Composites, an Idaho-based 3D printing startup, appointed Steve Starner as CEO; Starner previously served as the company’s chief revenue officer and has experience at Velo3D and Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence. First Row Partners, a Seattle-based venture fund, brought on Kayla Renz as chief of staff, following her previous role as a compliance leader at Flexport. Seattle healthcare startup Rippl welcomed Joe Chung as CTO and head of AI following the acquisition of his company, Kinto, by Rippl.

Upwardli, a Seattle-based fintech startup, hired Justin Chukumba as head of sales, leveraging his previous experience at Stripe and Plaid. James Sanders joined TechInsights, a semiconductor analysis firm, as a senior analyst after roles at CCS Insight, 451 Research, and CBS Interactive. The Oregon UAS Accelerator appointed Joseph Wyno as its new executive director; Wyno previously served as the director at Octane’s LaunchPad SBDC Accelerator. These personnel changes reflect the ongoing growth and development of various companies and organizations in the Pacific Northwest across different sectors.
