In a new lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, former NYPD inspector Timothy Pearson is accused of using his influence to secure lucrative migrant contracts from City Hall. Pearson allegedly asked employees where his share of the contracts was, indicating his intention to profit from the deals. The lawsuit describes a situation in October 2022 where Pearson made this comment, causing an awkward response from the employees present, who later referred to him as “crumbs” behind his back.

Michael Ferrari, a coworker of Pearson’s who filed the lawsuit, was allegedly tasked with ensuring that Pearson did not sexually harass women in the office, reflecting concerns about Pearson’s behavior. This lawsuit is the second in recent months to accuse Pearson of misconduct. In a previous March lawsuit, former cop Roxanne Ludemann claimed that Pearson sabotaged her career after she rejected his sexual advances. The suit also alleges that Pearson’s behavior was so concerning that a department chief created a system to prevent him from being alone with women in the office.

According to the lawsuit, Pearson’s behavior was enabled and protected by City Hall, allowing him to openly request a portion of City contracts in front of NYPD supervisors. Pearson’s actions reflect an entitlement and protection that led him to believe he could engage in inappropriate conduct without consequences. City Hall has stated that they will review the lawsuit and emphasize holding public servants to the highest standards. The lawsuit paints a picture of Pearson as a boastful mayoral aide who abused his power within the NYPD and other city agencies while working in an obscure unit located at 375 Pearl St.

The lawsuit also highlights an incident where Pearson used his influence to retaliate against a police sergeant who questioned why he was getting gas at a precinct. Pearson reportedly contacted the commanding officer to have the sergeant reprimanded, demonstrating his willingness to abuse his power for personal gain. Pearson’s behavior as described in the lawsuit raises concerns about the culture of entitlement and protection that allowed him to act with impunity. The lawsuit sheds light on a larger issue of misconduct and abuse of power within City Hall and the NYPD, calling for accountability and action to address these systemic issues. Pearson’s alleged actions highlight the need for greater oversight and ethical standards in public service to prevent further instances of abuse and misconduct.
