A young man living with Autism opened a special night for moms and caregivers of children on the spectrum, providing them with a rare night out. Tammy Gilmour, president of Autism Okanagan, highlighted the challenges faced by parents of children with special needs, making it difficult for them to find time for themselves. The Goddess on the Go gathering offered a chance for moms to connect with others in similar situations and receive much-needed support. Erin Cooper expressed the magical experience of meeting other moms who understood her without the need for explanations. The event, hosted by Autism Okanagan, serves as a lifeline for many moms, providing them with care and compassion from volunteers.

Autism Okanagan has been supporting around 300 families across the valley each year for the past 10 years. The increase in the prevalence of Autism is attributed to improved diagnostic tools, which have opened doors for understanding, compassion, and additional support for individuals with Autism. Through creating opportunities for children to thrive, Autism Okanagan aims to provide specific programs tailored to their needs and support for parents to help children reach their full potential.
