An animal charity in Ireland, the West Cork Animal Welfare Group, was saddened to find a mother German shepherd cross and her seven three-week-old puppies abandoned in the rain with no shelter or food. The mother, named Zelda, was tied to a gate so tightly that she couldn’t reach her puppies. A young man found them and contacted the charity, who immediately took them in for care. The puppies are now being fed with puppy milk around the clock, while Zelda is slowly being nursed back to health.

The post on Facebook, which showed Zelda and her puppies abandoned on a country road, went viral and garnered thousands of likes. The mother dog had tried to jump through the gate to reach her puppies but became tangled in the process. She was found to be severely malnourished and suffering from mange. Despite her condition, Zelda is described as a very sweet dog and is receiving the best care possible. Once fully rehabilitated, she and her puppies will be put up for adoption by the charity.

Due to Zelda’s malnutrition and stress, she is no longer able to care for her puppies and her milk has dried up. The puppies are now being cared for around the clock by volunteers, as Zelda “can’t cope” with her current state. The charity has received an outpouring of support from people all over the world who have donated food and funds towards Zelda’s care. Despite the cruel treatment she endured, Zelda is now safe and in good hands, with a brighter future ahead of her.

Zelda’s story has traveled across the world, with people in the U.K., U.S., Australia, and beyond expressing shock and horror at the mistreatment of the animals. Many expressed their wish for stricter laws regulating pet ownership to prevent such cruelty from happening again. Commenters on the rescue post were saddened by the sight of the abandoned animals, with one stating that humans are indeed the most dangerous species on the planet. Despite the cruelty they faced, Zelda and her puppies are now in a safe and loving environment, where they will only know kindness and care.

The rescue of Zelda and her puppies highlights the importance of animal welfare and the need for stricter regulations to prevent such acts of cruelty. The West Cork Animal Welfare Group is dedicated to providing care and support to animals in need, and their efforts have touched the hearts of people around the world. Through the support and donations of caring individuals, Zelda and her puppies are now on the path to recovery and a better life. Their story serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength of animals, and the compassion and kindness of those who work tirelessly to make a difference in their lives.
