Gypsy Rose Blanchard announced on her private Facebook account that she is separating from her husband Ryan Scott Anderson less than three months after being released from prison. The 32-year-old mentioned that she has moved in with her parents and is grateful for the support of her family and friends as she faces this new chapter in her life. She expressed the need for time to discover herself and find her identity.

Blanchard and Anderson’s relationship began when they started writing to each other regularly while she was serving a 10-year sentence for the second-degree murder of her mother, Clauddine “DeeDee” Blanchard. They got married in a jailhouse ceremony at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri in July 2022. Blanchard was granted parole in September and was released from prison on Dec. 28, almost three years ahead of schedule.

After leaving prison, Blanchard spoke about her excitement for married life and the plans she and Anderson had for a new ceremony outside of the prison environment. She shared her desire to have a proper reception with family and friends, including a wedding dress and cake. However, she admitted to being nervous about living with a man for the first time, as she had never experienced that dynamic before.

Blanchard made the decision to delete her public Instagram account, which had over 7.8 million followers, to distance herself from the spotlight. This move came after advice from her parole officer to avoid trouble that could potentially jeopardize her freedom. She has since only accessed social media through private accounts. Blanchard’s childhood was marked by her mother’s Munchausen syndrome by proxy, where she was forced to pretend to have various illnesses, leading to years of unnecessary medical treatments and a fictitious life in a wheelchair.

The events of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s childhood, filled with deception and abuse orchestrated by her mother, were depicted in the HBO documentary “Mommy Dead and Dearest” and the Hulu scripted series “The Act.” Despite being released from prison earlier than expected and embarking on a new chapter with her husband, Blanchard faced challenges in adjusting to a new life outside of prison walls. Now navigating her separation from Anderson, she is focused on self-discovery and finding her own identity with the support of her loved ones.
