Lying former Congressman George Santos resurrected his drag persona, Kitara Ravache, in a video posted on Cameo, where he claimed to be making six figures. Santos announced that he would donate a portion of the proceeds to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, despite previous concerns about his handling of donations. Facing a federal indictment for misusing campaign funds, Santos pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Kitara donned a red feather boa and spoke to Cameo recipients in a Long Island accent, encouraging them to try drag themselves. The existence of Kitara was first revealed by journalist Marisa Kabas in January 2023. Eula Rochard, a Brazilian drag queen and former friend of Santos, described him as an amateur in the local drag scene and doubted his ability to become a professional drag queen. Santos had previously denied ever doing drag, leading to further skepticism about his honesty.

Santos’ denial of his drag past added to his history of lies and contradictions, culminating in his expulsion from Congress. Turning to Cameo for income, Santos became a popular figure on the app, charging $500 for personalized video messages. He was even recruited by Senator John Fetterman to mock another indicted lawmaker, Senator Bob Menendez. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides support to the families of fallen service members and first responders, expressed surprise at Santos’ donation plans, claiming they were not informed beforehand.

Santos’ drag persona, Kitara Ravache, made a comeback in a video on Cameo, where he encouraged viewers to embrace the fun and excitement of drag. Despite facing a federal indictment for fraud and money laundering, Santos continued to deny any wrongdoing and proclaimed his innocence. The revelation of his drag past, along with his dishonesty and misuse of donations, contributed to his downfall from Congress. Despite the controversy surrounding his actions, Santos attempted to use his drag persona to generate income and gain popularity on Cameo.

Eula Rochard, a Brazilian drag queen and former acquaintance of Santos, revealed details of his previous drag performances and doubts about his potential success in the drag scene. Rochard recalled Santos, then known as Anthony Devolder, as an inexperienced amateur lacking the glamour and skills needed to become a professional drag queen. Santos’ denial of his drag past and subsequent revival of Kitara Ravache on Cameo raised questions about his credibility and integrity. The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, another organization Santos claimed to donate to, did not respond to requests for comment on his donation plans.

Santos’ attempt to use his drag persona to generate income on Cameo was met with skepticism and criticism, particularly from those who doubted his sincerity and honesty. The controversy surrounding Santos’ past and present actions, including his denial of his drag past and misuse of donations, led to his expulsion from Congress and tarnished his reputation. Despite his efforts to profit from his drag persona, Santos faced ongoing scrutiny and skepticism about his intentions. The organizations he claimed to donate to expressed surprise and uncertainty about his donation plans, further raising doubts about his credibility and integrity.
