Plans for a new 31-storey tower in Mirvac’s “Sky Precinct” at Newstead have been submitted for council approval. The tower would stand at 105.2 metres and house 138 units, with a variety of configurations including two, three, and four-plus bedroom units. Mirvac has lodged a development application for this final building in the Sky Precinct, which is part of the larger $1 billion Waterfront Newstead project. This precinct, located about three kilometers from Brisbane’s CBD, has undergone significant transformation over the past two decades, turning a former industrial area into a sought-after residential address.
The proposed tower is seen as essential in addressing the undersupply of housing in Brisbane, given the city’s projected population growth. According to Mirvac Queensland residential general manager Warwick Bible, the Queensland government’s population projections indicate a steady increase of over 14,000 people annually, with a significant portion expected to reside in Brisbane’s inner suburbs.
