FC Barcelona midfielder Pedri is no longer considered an “untouchable” player at the club, as they have put a price tag on him that they would accept from interested parties, as reported by El Nacional. The 21-year-old broke through to the first team under Ronald Koeman in the 2020/2021 season and was seen as a key player for the club’s future. However, after a busy summer representing Spain at both the Euros and the Olympics, he has struggled to feature in more than 50% of Barca’s games.

Despite initially being considered “untouchable,” the La Masia graduates Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi are now the only ones who hold that status in Xavi Hernandez’s squad. President Joan Laporta revealed that the club rejected a €200 million bid for Lamine from Paris Saint-Germain. Pedri, who once held the same status, has now lost it in the eyes of Sporting Director Deco, who has been looking to renew his contract. With Barca needing to sell players to navigate Financial Fair Play limits, they have set a price tag of €100 million on Pedri.

While Pedri currently does not have any known suitors, previous reports suggested that Paris Saint-Germain was interested in acquiring him. The Spain international would likely find a buyer somewhere in Europe if the price tag is met. Despite struggling with injuries throughout the 2023/2024 season, Pedri showcased his talent by providing an assist in a Champions League quarterfinal first leg match against PSG. However, he was unable to make an impact in the second leg as Barca was ultimately knocked out of the tournament.

With Pedri’s uncertain status at Barcelona and the club’s need to sell players to comply with financial regulations, his future is up in the air. The 21-year-old has proven his talent on numerous occasions but may have limited options due to his injury history. It remains to be seen if any clubs will be willing to meet the €100 million price tag set by Barcelona for Pedri, but there is potential for the young midfielder to make a move to another European club in the near future.
