The original Dance Moms cast, excluding Nia Sioux, Maddie Ziegler, and Mackenzie Ziegler, reunited for a special sit-down to revisit their time on the show. Brooke and Paige Hyland, who were part of the original junior elite competition team, shared their thoughts on returning to discuss their Dance Moms experience. Despite initial hesitations, they felt it would be healing and therapeutic to address their time on the show and have a chance to voice their opinions.

Kalani, Kendall, and other cast members shared that Lifetime had tried to organize a reunion several times before it finally came together. The cast members, now adults, felt that now was the right time to reunite as they could have adult conversations and address past experiences maturely. The reunion allowed them to revisit many traumatic moments from the show, which proved to be emotionally draining but necessary for closure.

The Hyland sisters, Brooke and Paige, were initially unsure about returning for the reunion, feeling that they were never given a voice on the show during their time on Dance Moms. They saw it as an opportunity to show the world who they are now and prevent others from creating narratives about them. The reunion also brought together the girls’ moms, creating a rare opportunity for the entire group to reunite, although Abby Lee Miller did not participate in the special.

Despite living in different cities and having busy lives, the former Dance Moms cast members stay in touch through a group chat. They occasionally send videos and try to meet up when they are in the same city, though it doesn’t happen often due to their hectic schedules. The reunion special, Dance Moms: The Reunion, aired on Lifetime on May 1st, allowing fans to see the original cast come together once again to reflect on their time on the show.
