A 50-year-old high school teacher, Jennifer Ruziscka, resigned from her position at Springfield Local School District in Ohio after her OnlyFans account was discovered by school officials in January. Ruziscka had been with the district for nearly 30 years and was put on administrative leave following the discovery of her “pornographic/sexually graphic website.” The district cited violations of her teaching licenses conduct and technology policies as the reason for disciplinary action.

Superintendent Matt Geha launched an investigation into Ruziscka after becoming aware of the allegations on Jan. 26. The evidence was obtained and secured with guidance from the district attorney, leading to Ruziscka’s resignation on Jan. 29. Ruziscka, who posted mature content under the name “Jenniferssecrets,” was also a cheerleading coach and yearbook advisor with a salary of $74,720 at the time of her resignation.

Photos of Ruziscka wearing lingerie were attached to her file for the investigation into her OnlyFans and Fansly accounts, which offered subscriptions ranging from $25 for a “Sneak Peek” to $99 for “Full Disclosure.” Despite her X-rated hobby, Ruziscka defended her actions by referencing Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” and emphasizing her dedication as an educator. She resigned two days before a disciplinary meeting was scheduled and has since taken a position as a 7-12 grade ELA tutor for an online learning platform.

Ruziscka is just one of several teachers who have faced investigations and subsequent resignations due to their involvement in adult content sites such as OnlyFans. Last September, Missouri teacher Brianna Coppage resigned after her OnlyFans account, which she ran with her husband, was discovered by school officials. Coppage eventually got a job as a community support specialist at Compass Health but was fired after only five days due to her adult content. These cases highlight the increasing scrutiny faced by educators who engage in side hustles involving mature content.

Despite the controversy surrounding her OnlyFans account, Ruziscka maintains that her dedication and exemplary work ethic as an educator have not been compromised. She asserts that her private life choices are separate from her professional life, where she has earned numerous accolades and recognition over her 28 years in the Springfield Local School District. Ruziscka’s willingness to defend her actions and move forward in a different role demonstrates her commitment to education and reducing dropout rates through online tutoring opportunities.

The issue of teachers engaging in adult content side hustles raises questions about the intersection of personal life choices and professional responsibilities. While Ruziscka and others believe they can maintain a distinction between their private activities and their roles as educators, school districts may take a different view based on their codes of conduct and policies. As society evolves and individuals have more opportunities to engage in diverse income streams, school officials and educators will continue to navigate the boundaries between personal freedom and professional expectations.
