This week’s Pet of the Week featured Bluey, a mischievous cat who managed to sneak into his owner’s safe. Cats are instinctively drawn to enclosed spaces like boxes, where they feel safe and secure. Research has shown that being able to hide in a box can help reduce stress in shelter cats. Bluey’s owner found him inside the safe and although it may have looked like a theft-in-progress, it was just the cat’s way of finding a cozy spot to relax.

The first finalist for Pet of the Week was Tike, a dog who overcame a serious heart condition against all odds. Despite being given a life expectancy of only six months, Tike’s owner did not give up on him. After undergoing major surgery at Washington State University, Tike came out with flying colors and is now a healthy and happy dog. His story is a testament to the love and determination of his owner, who refused to give up on him.

Sadie, an Idaho Shag herding dog, was the next finalist for Pet of the Week. Instead of working with sheep or cattle, Sadie has found herself enjoying home comforts with her owner. She loves playing fetch in the park and is an avid TV watcher. Sadie particularly enjoys watching commercials, especially ones with animals or basketballs. Her playful and energetic nature brings joy to her owner’s life.

The final pair of finalists were rescue dogs Roxy and Norman, who are living their best lives after being rescued by their owner Angela Faas. Roxy, who is 15 years old, and Norman, who is 6, were both in tough situations before being taken in by Faas. Now, they are her comfort and companions, enjoying a life filled with love and care. Their story highlights the importance of adopting rescue animals and giving them a second chance at happiness.
