A global survey conducted by Adecco Group and Oxford Economics revealed that 41% of C-suite executives expect to employ fewer people over the next five years due to the use of artificial intelligence. The survey covered executives from 18 industries in nine countries, representing both white-collar and blue-collar jobs. This contrasts with the results of a recent World Economic Forum poll, which showed that a quarter of global companies expected AI to result in job losses, while half believed it would create new job opportunities. The WEF also stated that most technologies, including AI, were projected to have a positive impact on job growth in the next five years.

Despite the potential for job creation, the implementation of AI has already led to lay-offs in certain industries. Tech companies like Dropbox and Duolingo have cited AI as a reason for workforce reductions. Goldman Sachs economists have warned that as many as 300 million full-time jobs worldwide could be lost or reduced due to the rise of generative AI, particularly impacting white-collar workers.
