Christina Applegate recently opened up about her battle with the sapovirus, a virus commonly transmitted through fecal-oral contact. She humorously detailed her experience with the illness, joking about “pissing out of my ass for a few days.” The actress, who also struggles with multiple sclerosis, shared that she woke up in the middle of the night in a pool of feces, leading to a challenging experience due to her preexisting health condition.

The ordeal began after someone close to Christina brought home COVID-19, causing her to contract the virus as well. Due to her compromised immune system from MS, she experienced severe symptoms, including a chest infection and a rapid heart rate. Eventually, a stool test revealed that she had contracted sapovirus. Christina attributed her illness to ingesting fecal matter from contaminated food, likely from a takeout salad she had eaten.

Despite her struggles with the sapovirus and MS, which can sometimes lead to bladder control issues, Christina maintained a sense of humor about the situation. She joked about the designs of adult diapers for women, questioning why they are often made to look appealing. Throughout her health journey, she has been candid about her experiences, sharing updates and insights with her fans and followers.

Christina was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021 and has since been open about her struggles with the disease. She made her first public appearance since the diagnosis at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, where she humorously referenced her condition. The actress revealed that her MS journey likely began years before her official diagnosis, with symptoms initially being dismissed as fatigue or other factors.

Despite the challenges she faces on a daily basis, Christina has found solace in humor and support from friends like Selma Blair, who also battles MS. She credited Blair with encouraging her to get tested for the disease, potentially catching it earlier than she would have otherwise. While she has expressed that Dead to Me may be her last onscreen credit, Christina remains grateful for the experiences and connections she has made throughout her career. Through it all, she continues to navigate her health journey with resilience and a positive outlook.
