Blake Griffin, a former NBA player, has officially announced his retirement at the age of 35. In a statement posted on his social media channels, Griffin expressed his gratitude for his career and all the moments, good and bad, that came with it. He had not played since the 2022-2023 season when he signed a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics. Griffin reflected on his time in the league, thanking his parents and brother for their support, and acknowledging the challenges, injuries, and even the ‘haters’ that shaped his 14-year career.

Selected as the first overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in 2009, Griffin spent eight seasons with the team before being traded to the Detroit Pistons in 2018. He also spent time with the Brooklyn Nets before signing his final deal with the Celtics. Despite the ups and downs, Griffin expressed gratitude for all the experiences that made his time in the league unforgettable. He ended his retirement announcement on a humorous note, expressing his love for the game of basketball and stating that he is done with this chapter in his life.

In addition to his basketball career, Griffin also made headlines for his off-the-court romance with Kendall Jenner from September 2017 to March 2018. He shares two children, son Ford and daughter Finley, with his ex-fiancée Brynn Cameron. Griffin has also ventured into the entertainment industry, appearing in the 2023 remake of White Men Can’t Jump and playing Muhammad Ali in History of the World: Part II. He also hosted the prank show Double Cross With Blake Griffin in 2021.

Throughout his career, Griffin was a six-time NBA All-Star and known for his high-flying dunks and athleticism on the court. Despite the injuries, surgeries, and setbacks he faced, Griffin remained thankful for all the lessons learned and experiences gained during his time in the league. As he moves on to the next chapter of his life, Griffin expressed his appreciation for the game of basketball and the opportunities it has provided him. His retirement marks the end of a prolific era in the NBA, leaving behind a legacy of talent, resilience, and gratitude.
