An 85-year-old Idaho woman named Christine Jenneiahn shot and killed an intruder in her home, an act that was deemed a heroic act of self-preservation by the county prosecutor. The prosecutor, Ryan Jolley, ruled the killing as justifiable homicide, stating that Christine had acted in self-defense. The incident, which occurred in March, involved an intruder named Derek Condon breaking into Christine’s home in the early hours of the morning while she was asleep. Christine was awoken by the intruder who was armed and eventually handcuffed her and her disabled son.

After being handcuffed to a wooden chair in her living room, Christine engaged in a struggle with the intruder by hiding her .357 Magnum revolver and ultimately shooting Condon with it. Condon had also fired shots at Christine, injuring her multiple times before he died from his wounds in the kitchen. Christine remained handcuffed and on the floor for approximately 10 hours until her son discovered her and called 911. She was taken to a hospital for treatment and is now in recovery. Subsequent investigation of the scene revealed evidence of Condon’s break-in, including a broken window, a screwdriver, stolen items, and footprints leading from his vehicle to the residence.

Based on Idaho’s self-defense law, which allows individuals to protect themselves without legal jeopardy, Jolley ruled the killing of Condon by Christine as justifiable. He commended Christine for her determination and will to live, stating that she had exhibited one of the most heroic acts of self-preservation he had ever heard of. The review of the incident also mentioned that Christine’s memory of the events that occurred during the struggle with Condon was somewhat unclear. Despite facing a dangerous situation, Christine made the decision to defend herself and her son by using her firearm against the armed intruder.

Christine’s actions during the break-in showed her quick thinking and determination to survive the encounter with the intruder. While she sustained injuries during the shootout with Condon, she was able to defend herself and her home until help arrived. The county prosecutor praised Christine for her bravery and resolve in the face of danger, highlighting her survival as truly incredible. The case review posted by the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office detailed the events of the incident and the subsequent ruling that Christine’s actions were justified under Idaho law.

In the aftermath of the incident, Christine Jenneiahn has been hailed as a hero for her actions in defending herself against the intruder who broke into her home. The county prosecutor’s ruling of justifiable homicide emphasized that Christine had acted in self-defense and had been faced with a life-threatening situation. Her quick thinking and ability to access her firearm ultimately saved her life and the life of her son. The community has rallied around Christine, offering support and recognition for her bravery in the face of danger. As she continues to recover from her injuries, Christine’s story serves as a testament to the importance of self-defense and preparedness in extreme situations.
