Russia launched attacks on railway facilities in three regions of Ukraine, killing at least six civilians and injuring dozens more. These attacks are part of Russia’s efforts to slow down the flow of American weapons and equipment to Ukrainian forces. Ukrainian railways have been critical in transporting civilians, supplies, and heavy weapons, making them a key target for Russian strikes. Russia’s defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, has vowed to target Western weapons as they arrive in Ukraine, increasing the intensity of strikes on logistics centers and storage bases.

In response to the attacks, Kyiv City Hall evacuated two hospitals in the capital due to a perceived threat of attack. A video claiming that soldiers were being treated in the hospitals circulated online, but the City Council stated that this claim was untrue. Parents began taking their children out of the hospitals, and medical workers were in the process of moving patients, including those in intensive care, to safety. The need for quick action to turn commitments of aid into deliveries of weapons and ammunition was emphasized by NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg.

Ukrainian forces are fighting fiercely to hold their defensive lines in various locations, as Russian forces continue to advance in certain areas. Pressure is mounting on towns like Chasiv Yar, which is strategically located and could serve as a launching point for further Russian offensive operations. In the Donetsk region, Russian forces have taken control of villages west of Avdiivka, with their next target being the city of Pokrovsk. The potential capture of Chasiv Yar would enable Russia to target larger population centers in the Donbas region.

In northeastern regions of Kharkiv and Sumy, guided aerial bomb attacks struck two villages, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to several more people, including children. Attacks in the region have resulted in the deaths of multiple children, with a 2-month-old infant among the youngest victims. The ongoing violence and casualties highlight the devastating impact of the conflict on civilians, particularly children. It is imperative for international allies to expedite the delivery of weapons and support to Ukrainian forces to help them defend against Russian aggression and protect vulnerable populations.
