Shamrock, a Florida puppy born with green fur, has recently gained internet fame due to her unique coloring. The puppy, born on March 3, was appropriately named Shamrock in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Owner Carole DeBruler began posting pictures and videos of the puppies on social media shortly after their birth. A video explaining Shamrock’s unique coloring, likely caused by being stained with biliverdin in the mother dog’s womb, went viral on TikTok with over 8 million views. Despite the initial shock of seeing a green dog, the condition is harmless and will fade as Shamrock grows older.

As Shamrock and her siblings, English cream golden retrievers, grow older, the green coloring is starting to fade but Shamrock’s personality is becoming stronger. The breed standard for golden retrievers typically includes a coat of various shades of golden, with full siblings varying from very light cream to a rich gold. While green is not a listed color as per the breed standard, Shamrock’s unique coloring has captured the attention of many online. Owner DeBruler has confirmed that Shamrock is happy and healthy, despite being slightly smaller than her siblings.

In a follow-up video, DeBruler reassured viewers that Shamrock’s unique green coloring is harmless and that the little pup is thriving. The video also showed that Shamrock’s fur was starting to fade as she grew older, but her playful and spunky personality was becoming more evident. While some may find it alarming to see a green dog, it is important to remember that Shamrock’s coloring is not harmful and will not negatively impact her health or well-being in any way.

Golden retrievers, like Shamrock and her siblings, can come in a variety of colors within the golden spectrum, from very light cream to rich gold. The Green Retriever Club of America confirms that full siblings can have different colors, but green is not a recognized color within the breed standard. Despite this, Shamrock’s green coloring has brought joy and curiosity to many online, and she has quickly become a viral sensation. Other unique animals, such as a cat with piercing green eyes at an animal rescue agency, have also gained attention for their distinctive features.

Fox News Digital reached out to Shamrock’s owner for comments on the puppy’s newfound fame and unique coloring. DeBruler confirmed that Shamrock and her siblings are happy and healthy, and that Shamrock’s green coloring is simply a temporary condition that will fade as she grows older. Despite being smaller than her siblings, Shamrock’s personality shines through, and her playful nature has endeared her to many online fans. While green may not be a standard color for golden retrievers, Shamrock’s unique coloring has made her stand out and captured the hearts of many on the internet.
