The Kentucky Derby is a historic horse race that takes place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, attracting thousands of spectators in extravagant hats and outfits. In 1986, Bill Shoemaker became the oldest jockey to win the Kentucky Derby at the age of 54, riding Ferdinand to victory. One of the biggest comebacks in derby history occurred in 2009 when Mine That Bird went from last place to first, beating 50-to-1 odds. In 2019, Country House was declared the winner after Maximum Security was disqualified for veering out of his lane. More recently, in 2022, Rich Strike won the derby with 80-to-1 odds after joining the lineup at the last minute.
